Whole-house and standard-home references

Angi publishes broad whole-house context and a narrower standard three-bedroom example. The narrower statement describes 10–12 standard double-hung windows with professional installation; it is not a universal house type or a rate.

Use the six published bands as labels, not count rules

The table's ranges overlap at several endpoints. A user selecting a source label is different from Ramefor assigning a numeric count to a band. The calculator therefore presents the six literal options and performs no count coercion.

Create an opening schedule before requesting package bids

  • Number every opening and record room, floor, access, dimensions, style, operation, frame, color, grids, hardware, glass, screen, and code or safety requirements.
  • Mark standard and custom openings, upper-story or constrained access, units near roofs or masonry, and openings with visible water, sill, frame, trim, or structural damage.
  • Define full-frame versus retrofit per opening rather than assuming one method fits the entire house.
  • Require alternates and allowances to be explicit so product upgrades, repairs, trim, painting, flashing, permits, and disposal are not hidden in a package total.

Compare phased and all-at-once proposals on the same scope

A publisher may note that replacing multiple windows together can affect contractor pricing, but Ramefor does not invent a volume discount. Ask bidders to state mobilization, access equipment, product ordering, storage, protection, disposal, warranty, and schedule assumptions for each alternative.

If work is phased, prioritize unsafe, leaking, damaged, or failed openings based on professional inspection and preserve product and exterior consistency where that matters. If work is simultaneous, define daily dry-in and security responsibilities.

How Much Does Window Replacement Cost? [2026 Data]

Source published/updated
Ramefor verified

How we use it: Ramefor uses the six overlapping table labels for exact lookup and keeps all per-window and project context separate from the calculator.

Scope and limitations
  • The six exact quantity labels overlap at 8, 12, 16, and 20; Ramefor preserves the labels and requires the user to select a published row directly.
  • Project totals, per-window references, labor, replacement method, glass, historic-home work, and structural repair have different scopes and are never added or multiplied together.
  • Only the six exact number-of-windows table rows feed the calculator.
