Basement Scope Model

Describe the project without hiding gaps

5 sections

1 Project area

Cost uses only the area being finished now. Total footprint is optional context and never replaces that quantity.

Optional. Must be at least the finishing area.

2 Base finishing price

Choose one base pathway. The national model, a user base quote, separate trade quotes, and not-priced state never stack as competing base lines.

3 Rooms and trade scope

Separate quotes enter the subtotal only when the selected base pathway makes them overlap-safe.

Optional exact fee only. No national permit allowance is added.

4 Egress

Sleeping-room intent creates a local life-safety review. A price range is not a code verdict.

5 Basement readiness

Moisture, radon, combustion safety, and enclosure planning stay separate from pricing.

A partial modeled subtotal is valid. Benchmarks, unresolved work, readiness guidance, and withheld overlaps never enter it.

How the basement calculator works

The model multiplies only the actual finishing area by Angi's $7–$23 per-square-foot reference, and only within the five-row demonstrated interval of 500–2,000 square feet. Exact rows remain validation benchmarks rather than duplicate cost lines.

User base quotes and separate trade quotes follow explicit inclusion and exclusion rules. Moisture, radon, combustion safety, permits, feature references, and concealed work never become silent multipliers.

Finishing is not the same as remodeling

This calculator is limited to rows for converting unfinished or semi-finished space. It does not price alterations to an already finished basement or a broader structural overhaul.
