Published project and individual-window references

Angi reports a professional-project range and average based on 13,122 verified Angi Pro projects. Its individual-window range and stated per-window average use a different unit, so Ramefor does not use either to reconstruct a project total.

Six exact, overlapping labels power the calculator

The source labels its rows 6–8, 8–12, 12–16, 16–20, 20–24, and 25 windows. Several endpoints appear in two rows. Ramefor does not decide mathematically which row owns a boundary; the user selects the published label itself.

Angi states that the table assumes standard double-hung windows and professional installation. Product specifications, opening conditions, access, repairs, permits, trim, flashing, and disposal can make a local quote differ.

The independent survey has different scopes

This Old House surveyed 1,000 U.S. homeowners in 2026 and reports an average project covering seven windows. Its separate per-window figure is explicitly before installation. Ramefor retains the project and product units and does not mix either with Angi's calculator table.

Build a quote comparison around openings and installation method

  • Inventory each opening by location, dimensions, operating style, frame material, glass package, grids, color, hardware, safety-glazing or egress needs, and whether it is standard or custom.
  • State retrofit versus full-frame replacement and document the existing frame, sill, flashing, trim, cladding, masonry, rot, water entry, and structural repair assumptions.
  • Separate product, labor, upper-story access, interior and exterior trim, air and water sealing, flashing, painting, disposal, permits, inspections, and protection of occupied rooms.
  • Confirm performance specifications, code requirements, installation standard, manufacturer and labor warranties, lead times, substitutions, cleanup, and closeout documents.

How Much Does Window Replacement Cost? [2026 Data]

Source published/updated
Ramefor verified

How we use it: Ramefor uses the six overlapping table labels for exact lookup and keeps all per-window and project context separate from the calculator.

Scope and limitations
  • The six exact quantity labels overlap at 8, 12, 16, and 20; Ramefor preserves the labels and requires the user to select a published row directly.
  • Project totals, per-window references, labor, replacement method, glass, historic-home work, and structural repair have different scopes and are never added or multiplied together.
  • Only the six exact number-of-windows table rows feed the calculator.

Windows Survey Results (2026)

Source published/updated
Ramefor verified

How we use it: Ramefor uses the independent survey only to distinguish reported project spend from product cost before installation; neither value adjusts the calculator.

Scope and limitations
  • The 2026 survey covers 1,000 U.S. homeowners and reports an average of seven windows replaced per project.
  • The project average and before-installation per-window average have different scopes and cannot be divided, multiplied, or reconciled into a new value.
  • This source provides editorial context only and never feeds the Angi table-based calculator.
