Angi's Cost Insights and introduction publish $10,500–$20,000, but the later Size section explicitly publishes $10,500–$15,000 for 70–100 square feet. The body also states a $10,500 average. These are separate source statements, not inputs that can be reconciled into a new range.

Why a small kitchen does not scale linearly by floor area
A compact room may have less open floor but nearly the same number of cabinet corners, appliance hookups, lighting zones, shutoffs, outlets, and work transitions as a larger kitchen. Contractors and specialty trades also have mobilization, protection, measurement, delivery, and minimum-work costs.
Tight clearances can make sequencing harder: appliances need paths in and out, doors and drawers need clearance, and several trades cannot work in the room at once. Square footage alone does not capture that coordination.
Cabinets and appliances dominate decisions in a compact plan
- Cabinet scope: refinishing doors, refacing boxes, replacing with stock sizes, or designing custom storage changes both product and installation work.
- Layout efficiency: fillers, blind corners, pantry pullouts, appliance panels, countertop supports, and door clearances may matter more than total cabinet length.
- Appliance strategy: retaining an appliance in place differs from changing widths, adding a water line, moving a range, upgrading ventilation, or installing built-ins.
- Countertop and backsplash: small slabs still require templating, fabrication, cutouts, seams, edge work, delivery, and installation.
- Procurement: cabinet and appliance dimensions must be coordinated before rough work and countertop measurement, not corrected through late allowances.
Questions for a small-kitchen quote
- Which cabinet boxes remain, and which doors, drawers, hardware, panels, trim, and organizers are included?
- Which appliance models and connection changes are assumed, and who handles delivery, storage, installation, and removal?
- Are counters, backsplash, flooring, paint, lighting, ventilation, plumbing, electrical, permits, demolition, and cleanup fully specified?
- How are wall and floor preparation, cabinet scribing, uneven conditions, and hidden trade corrections handled?
- Can each contractor price the same drawings, product schedule, and allowances so the totals are actually comparable?
